About SAPP
The Southern African Power Pool (SAPP) was created in August 1995 at the SADC summit held in Kempton Park, South Africa. Member governments signed an Inter-Governmental Memorandum of Understanding for the formation of an electricity power pool in the region.
SAPP is governed by four key agreements and has twelve member countries represented by their respective electric power utilities organised through SADC.
The Pool has four working committees: Environmental, Markets, Operating, and Planning Sub-Committees under a Management Committee which reports to the Executive Committee.
