ZESCO LAUNCHES NET METERING PROGRAM TO BOOST RENEWABLE ENERGY ADOPTION
ZESCO Limited on Tuesday, 30 July 2024 announced the launch of the Net Metering Program, which kicked off on Thursday 1 August 2024..
This is in line with The Electricity (Net Metering) Regulations, 2024, and is designed to promote the adoption of renewable energy sources among our customers, allowing them to generate their own electricity and feed any excess power back into the grid.
Net metering is a system that allows prosumers (consumers who also produce electricity) to generate their own power (limited to the contracted/declared demand with ZESCO) from renewable energy sources such as solar.
Any excess electricity generated can be fed back into the ZESCO grid, effectively allowing prosumers to offset their electricity bills. .
This system not only promotes the use of renewable energy but also enhances energy security and sustainability in Zambia..
