
ZESCO MANAGING DIRECTOR IMPRESSED WITH THE OPERATIONS AT MAAMBA THERMAL POWER PLANT
ZESCO Managing Director Eng. Justin Loongo has expressed satisfaction at the progress made on the second phase of the Thermal Power Plant at Maamba Energy Limited in Siavonga District of Southern Province.
Eng. Loongo was in Maamba on Friday, 14 February 2024 to appreciate the operations of the Maamba Energy Limited, and the progress made on the second phase of the 300 MW thermal Power Plant.
During the visit, Eng. Loongo was taken on a tour of the facility, where he was briefed on the project’s milestones, challenges and future plans. The tour provided the Managing Director with a firsthand look at the project’s progress.
Speaking after a conducted tour of the plant, Eng. Loongo commended the project team for their resilience and commitment to delivering the project on time despite facing several operational challenges. He also acknowledged the challenges faced by the project team, but commended Maamba Energy Limited for their commitment to ensure the successful completion of the project.
Eng. Loongo was accompanied by Director - Strategy & Business Development, Fitzpatrick Kapepe, Director – Transmission & Trade, Lioko Sitali and Director - Planning & Projects, Francis Namakanda. And Maamba Energy Limited Chief Executive Officer Mr. Cyrus Minwalla and his team thanked the Managing Director and his team for the visit which he described as a demonstration of ZESCO’s commitment to the project’s success.
Meanwhile, Eng. Loongo has commended Maamba Energy Limited for undertaking impactful CSR initiatives aimed at improving the lives of the people.
